Getting Started

Is Field Ledger really free?

Yes. The free plan includes unlimited customers, jobs, quotes, invoices, and photos — the core record-keeping features. The paid plan is optional.

Do I need an internet connection?

For Pro users on mobile, no — Field Ledger works fully offline and syncs when you're back online. The Free plan and the web version both require an internet connection. See Offline Mode and Plans & Pricing.

What devices is Field Ledger on?

Android phones and tablets, iPhones and iPads, and any web browser on PC, Mac, or tablet.

Does my account work across devices?

Pro users: yes. Sign in once on your phone, sign in on your laptop — same data, same account, kept in sync automatically. Free is single-device. See Plans & Pricing.

Customers & Jobs

Can I import customers from another app?

CSV import is on the roadmap. For now, customers are added one at a time inside the app.

How many customers, jobs, or invoices can I have?

Field Ledger gives you generous storage room — enough to comfortably cover what a working solo operator handles month after month. There's no practical cap on the day-to-day records you'll create.

Can I have multiple users on one account?

Not yet. Field Ledger is built for solo operators. Multi-user is on the roadmap.

Are there limits on how many SMS I can send?

Yes. Field Ledger enforces daily and monthly limits on outbound SMS to prevent abuse, manage Twilio costs, and comply with carrier anti-spam policies. These limits are per-account.

Invoices & Payments

Does Field Ledger process customer payments?

Field Ledger doesn't directly process payments, but you can link your existing payment accounts — Venmo, Stripe, PayPal, and other supported options — in Settings. Once linked, your payment links are pulled into the invoice section automatically, so customers can pay you the same way they always have, with one tap from their invoice.

Can I customize the invoice template?

Branding (logo, color, business info, payment terms) is customizable. The structural layout is fixed for v1.

What happens to invoices I've already sent if I cancel my account?

They stay with your customer. Field Ledger generates PDFs that exist independently of our system.

Photos & Reports

How are photos stored?

Encrypted on your device. Pro users also get Cloud Photo Backup — photos sync to your private cloud account and are accessible from any signed-in device. Free users keep photos on the device they were taken on.

Are my photos shared with anyone?

Your photos are yours. We do not use your photos for advertising, sale, training of AI models, or any purpose other than providing the Field Ledger service you signed up for.

Can I delete a single photo?

Yes. Open the job → tap the photo → Delete.

Can I dictate notes with my voice?

Yes. Use your device's built-in voice-to-text — tap the microphone key on your keyboard when filling in notes, descriptions, or job details, and Field Ledger captures what you say.

Privacy & Data

Does Field Ledger sell my data?

No. We do not sell or share your personal information. See our Privacy Policy.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, from any device, with a 30-day grace period. Most of your data is purged from Field Ledger's systems within that 30-day window. A limited set of metadata is retained by two sub-processors (RevenueCat and Resend) after deletion, governed by their own privacy policies. See our Account Deletion page for the full breakdown.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Data Export lives in Settings inside the app. See the full Data Export guide.

Troubleshooting

The app says I have no signal but Wi-Fi is on.

Check your phone's data connection. Field Ledger's sync requires a working connection. Try airplane mode on and off.

My notifications aren't firing.

Check that Notifications is on in Settings, and check your phone's system settings to confirm Field Ledger has notification permission.

I can't see my map pin.

Make sure the customer has a service address filled in. Without an address, the pin doesn't appear.

Something else is wrong.
