Photo Documentation
Snap it. Stamp it. Send it. Photos are how you protect yourself, document the scope, and win the next bid.
Where to Find It
Photos live in their own section on the job card. The same photos automatically flow into:
- Any invoice generated from that job
- The Verification Report for the job (if you choose to attach them)
Capturing Photos
Open a job → tap Photo to capture a single image, or Batch to capture multiple images in sequence without leaving the camera. The captured photo (or photos) attach to the current job.
On the web: the camera button uses your browser's file picker. Most modern browsers also let you take a photo directly from a phone or webcam.
Photos Flow Into Invoices
Photos attached to a job card automatically populate the invoice generated from that same job. No need to re-attach them — when you tap Generate Invoice, the job's photos come with it.
What Gets Stamped
Every photo automatically captures:
- Timestamp — when the photo was taken
- Location — when location services are granted (latitude and longitude coordinates)
- Your account — who took it
This metadata survives export and PDF generation.
Location Permission
The first time you take or attach a photo, your device shows the standard system permission prompt asking you to allow Field Ledger access to your location. Tap Allow While Using App (recommended) or Don't Allow. If declined, photos still work — they just won't include location stamps. You can change this anytime in your device's system settings.
Photo Limits
There's no hard limit on photos per job. Photos are stored encrypted on your device. Pro users: photos also back up to your private cloud account, accessible across all your devices (Cloud Photo Backup). Free users: photos live on the device they were taken on — back them up via Data Export if you want a copy elsewhere.
Tips
- Take "before" photos on every job — pre-existing damage is the #1 source of customer disputes
- Photograph completed work from multiple angles — gives the customer confidence and gives you evidence
- Photograph serial numbers of any equipment installed — saves you a return trip later
Privacy
Photos are yours. They are not shared with anyone (including us). On Pro, they sync to your private cloud account. You can export or delete them at any time. See Account Deletion and Data Export.
